Notes
on Glory in the Lord
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the preaching of the
cross is to them that perish foolishness; but
unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
- But to the damned the lesson of the cross
is foolishness. But to us who are saved
it is the power of God. (There are people
who refuse to listen to the truth of God
and they consider all that we believe in
to be foolishness)
1 Corinthians 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of
the wise, and will bring to nothing the
understanding of the prudent.
1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? where is
the scribe? where is the disputer of this world?
hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this

the lawyers? Where are the debaters of
this world? God has made their wisdom
foolish. (We can not reason God, for his
truth makes reason foolishness and faith
in the unreasonable brilliant.)

called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of
God, and the wisdom of God.
- But to those God calls, both the Jews and
the Greeks, Christ is the power of God
and the wisdom of God. (When God gives
the gift of Grace and faith to his people
the truth of Jesus becomes apparent.)
1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of
God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is
stronger than men.

wisdom of men, and the weakness of God is
stronger than the strength of men.
1 Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling,
brethren, how that not many wise men after the
flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are
called:
- Brothers, think of what you were when you
were called. not many of you were thought
wise by society nor were you influential
or from imminent families.
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the
foolish things of the world to confound the wise;

to confound the things which are mighty;

weak things of the world to put the
strong.to shame.
