Notes on Spiritual Gifts to the Corinthians

1 Corinthians 1:4 - 9

In 1 Corinthians 1:4 - 9 Paul reviews the gifts and blessings visited upon the Church at Corinth. He reminds them that they have received Grace, spiritual blessings. strength, and all the blessings that they need to make it to the second coming of Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

  • I thank God that he gave you his grace through Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

  • That you have been enriched by him in what you say and in what you know.
    • (Paul is thanking God for the gifts of the spirit that the Corinthians received.)

1 Corinthians 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

  • Even as the message of Christ was confirmed in you:
    • (Paul preached the Holy Word of Jesus Christ and the word grew in the church and the church is proof of the message of Jesus Christ.)

1 Corinthians 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

  • Therefore there is no spiritual gift that you are lacking as you wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • God shall keep you strong to the end so that you will be blameless on the day our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
    • (It is by the strength of God through the gifts of Grace and Faith that we are preserved and maintained.)

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • God called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord and God is faithful.
    • (When Paul says God is faithful he is saying that God will keep his promises especially that he will preserve the faith to the end of the saved.)
