Notes on the Wisdom of the Wise

In 1 Corinthians 1:19 Paul quotes from Isaiah 29:14 when he says:

19 For it is written,
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Paul is telling us that without God, mans reason and wisdom are folly. Scientists, professors, philosophers and all the great thinkers are foolish if their teachings and understandings are not based on the word of God.
