Notes on the Twelve
Dispersed Tribes
James address his letter to the twelve tribes
which are scattered abroad. From this I take that
the children of Israel are still identifiable but
are in other lands. If one were to look for
Israelites in other lands at the time of James it
seems probable that they are dispersed in the
lands that were Babylon, Persia on out into
Central Asia, Greece, and Rome. In each case
those countries must be seen in light of their
furthest settled boundaries.
