Notes on "Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven"

In Matthew 16:19 Jesus gave the "keys of the kingdom of Heaven" to Peter. Peter could pass this power to his successors.Certainly the keys to the would have givento the Apostles. In Revelation 1:18 Jesus tells us, "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death." This book was written after the death of Peter. Peter died circa 63 and Revelation was written about 30 years later. Peter had the opportunity to either continue Christianity as sect of Judaism for Jews or open it to the Gentiles. Peter opened Christianity to all mankind. See Acts Chapter 10 for the story of how he opened the Kingdom of Heaven to non-Jews.

To Understand my faith better I have decided to construct these pages. They are strictly educational, non-commercial and to foster scholarly discussion. All Bible quotes are from the King James Version unless otherwise stated. I use the KJV because while not a perfect translation it is literal and out of Copyright.
