Notes on Ethnos
In the New Testament Nation and
Gentile are two translations of the same Greek
word, Ethnos. In this sense
ethnos usually means one who is not an Israelite.
We use "Gentile" when it is one or a
small number such as a city but when it speaks to
a nation or state then we use "Nation".
Ethnos can also be used for
people or heathen.
