• The absence of light.

• In Matthew 4:16 darkness is used as a metaphor for separation from God.

David

• Son of Jesse of Bethlehem. First King of Israel in the Genealogy of Joseph the Carpenter.

• Bethlehem is sometimes referred to as the "Town of David".

• The phrase "Son of David" is another way of saying the Messiah.

    Since his ordination in 1985, Dr. Dever has served on the pastoral staff of four churches, the last, Eden Baptist Church in Cambridge, England, where he served as associate pastor. It was at Cambridge University that Dr. Dever received a Ph.D. in church history. Previous degrees include a Masters in Theology from Southern Seminary, a Masters in Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University. A frequent conference speaker, Dr. Dever has been published in the Journal of Ecclesiastical History, Disciple's Study Bible and most recently, he has written Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, published by the Founders' Conference, a pastoral movement for biblical teaching and healthy church life within the Southern Baptist Convention. With his wife, Connie, and their children, Annie and Nathan, Dr. Dever lives and ministers on Capitol Hill.

Dispensationalism

• Dispensationalism takes it’s name from the idea that God deals with different groups of people in different ways or dispensations. When the Rapture comes God will take up the Christian Church. All of those who have come to Christ from the Birth of Christ to the moment of the Rapture will be taken up and then God will deal with the salvation of the Jews.

• I have come to the conclusion that Dispensationalism is firmly rooted in a misunderstanding of the nature of nation of Israel.

• Dr. James Dobson is a Christian Psychologist and founder of Focus on the Family.
